I heard somewhere that John Lennon

Used to read all the daily newspapers. You can become a pretty smart person if you do that. I know the newspapers are biased but the facts can be disputed. Newspapers print retractions all the time about how a previous article or ad was incorrect, they list the wrong data and then list the correct data “we printed x24 when we should have printed x23”. Unlike the Internet which is not the same.  The Internet isn’t the same yet I should say because perhaps sometime in the future there will be more fact checking and retracting.

Anyway my gut tells me that is where John Lennon got the inspiration for ‘A Day In The Life’ song 1967 released on the Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band. I heard he used to eat Kellogg’s Corn Flakes also. My gut tells me that is where he got the inspiration for ‘Good Morning, Good Morning’ song also on the Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band. The TV ad for the Corn Flakes featured a Rooster and it went ‘good morning, good morning’ and so on and so forth.

Yesterday I was looking at videos on www.youtube.com. I was looking for videos of Ayn Rand and I found some. She was interviewed by Mike Wallace, Phil Donahue and Tom Synder. When I was done looking up Ayn Rand I started looking at Penn & Teller, then I started looking at other stuff. I got this bright idea to look up stuff for the Beatles. I found some interviews of all the Beatles. I also found interviews with Julian Lennon and interviews with Sean Lennon. I discovered that I like Julian but I don’t like Sean. Julian sure looks a lot like John Lennon but Sean makes himself look like John only because he wears the same type of glasses and has a similar beard. If Sean takes off the glasses and shaves the beard he will look like himself.

But while I was doing that I decided to look up on the Internet anything about my mother’s mother. Well I found her all right. Some distant relative of mine has done extensive research into his past. It isn’t a complete genealogy but it has a lot of information anyway. I don’t know the date she married but I do know when she was born. I also know when her husband was born and when he died. I also have a picture of my Great Grandfather and a picture of my Great Grandmother. Here is the picture of my Grandmother:

and here are her mother and father my Great Grandparents:

EmmaWestonMyGreatGrandmother   FentonJeffersonPardeeMyGreatGrandfather So I was reading the genealogy and then I went back to finding stuff. It hit me all of a sudden.  Maybe it listed where my Grandmother and Grandfather were born!!! So I went back to reading the genealogy. Hmmmmm my Grandmother was NOT born in Norway.  The picture above is of her high school graduation and I know this because of the name on it was her maiden name. The genealogy goes way back to 1567. My ancestors on my mother’s side were English. The ancestors on my father’s side were English, Welsh and Celtic.

So then it bothered me that my Grandmother was not Norwegian. I remember my mom saying that they were both Norwegian. So then I had to find the answer. I went to a place on the Internet and found some information about my Grandfather. It looks like he went through Ellis Island at the age of 12. He was in World War One. He was a carpenter specifically a house carpenter. He was 10 years older than my Grandmother. At the time of the 1930 census he was NOT a naturalized citizen. At the time of the census neither of them had any college. My Great grandfather was dead and my Great grandmother was listed as head of household. It also listed that it was a farm. It did not list the address though. I mention college because my mom said my Grandmother graduated from Michigan Normal College in 1920.  So then if the census is correct my mom is wrong. But she also said they were both Norwegian.

So…..in the final analysis I am not 50 per cent Norwegian I am only 25 per cent Norwegian.

The honeymoon is over

I moved to Tucson and I thought wow this is where it’s at.

The Superbowl came to Phoenix.

The Arizona Senator John McCain was the Presidential Candidate for the Republican Party (and he knows who Ayn Rand is).

Marana had a MAJOR Golf tornament.

The Arizona Cardinals went to the Superbowl.

I didn’t have to drive to Florida from Michigan to see some spring training, all I had to do was drive across town!!

The Arizona Governor Napolitano was chosen by Barack Obama for the Department of Homeland Security Secretary cabinet post.

Now I am not so sure that this is where it is at. If you haven’t heard, there is a civil war being waged one hours’ drive from here South of the border, down Mexico way. 550 law enforcement officers have been killed by the drug cartels. The streets of some Mexico cities are not safe to drive or walk in. Gunfire disrupts the quiet commerce. Drugs are coming North, guns are going South from the US. The war has come to Arizona. Some of the crimes happening here in Tucson are because of the drug war South of the border.

So now I am asking myself, do I want to keep a part time job and  risk losing my life or do I want to go back to Michigan where there are no jobs but I don’t have to worry about a gunfight? OK ok I am exaggerating because so far it is still safe in Tucson. But…. it could get worse. I will say however that the other night when I heard gunfire it did not take long for the eyes in the sky to come flying overhead looking for those responsible.

Business is picking up a little at the car wash. I have been working my ‘magic’ on posters and flyers. I am considering purchasing some desktop publishing software. Microsoft Publisher is $139 so I have to find something less costly. Maybe some software in the $39 range. I have placed the car wash on seven or so Internet places. I have added pictures and two sites I have created coupons. For some reason the Google coupon disappears when you click on it. I had read some Internet chatter that Google has some code issues so hopefully this coupon issue will clear up soon.

I have been looking for a second job but nothing so far. I have had only one interview. Internet job discussion board chatter is that nobody is hiring. I feel a little better after reading that, so I will continue to try to find something.

I am not happy with my new ISP Net Zero. In some instances it is not faster and in others it is not that much faster. Plus they send me spam. I am looking at other alternatives. I may just give up my landline and get high speed Internet. I may actually save money by doing this.

Disappointed in Domino’s Pizza

I am going to give Domino’s Pizza one more try and then I will give up. I think Domino’s Pizza has changed the type of cheese they use. I have tried double cheese and triple cheese, now I am going to try just a single cheese pizza. If they fail then I will try other pizza chains for my cheese fix. My cheese fix demands that the pizza have an oily top to it and demands that the cheese be a little burnt and demands that the cheese be stringy and hard to cut.

I am better with my cold but still blowing and hacking and coughing. I have used up more than two boxes of tissue. I have been so tired what with my cold and getting used to my new job I haven’t done anything else. Got my first paycheck yesterday so have been on the job for a little over two weeks. Let’s see if I can get past the ‘seven weeks and out’ time period. Have started looking for a second job.

So far two days out of the days I have worked were so busy that I couldn’t get everything done. I didn’t have any time to myself, no time for breaks. Hopefully there won’t be many days like those two. But on the other hand maybe I would get adjusted to being that busy who knows.

Finally got all my tax documents. I had thought of going to HR Block but that would cost me more than $65. So I am going to use taxslayer.com or hrblock.com online software to file. Taxslayer would cost me $19.95 and not the usual $9.95 because I have multiple state forms to file. HR Block would cost me $14.95. Now all I have to do is find my medical bills and moving expenses and then I can do my taxes. I am going to try to do them on Sunday.

Today is Groundhog day. Ayn Rand’s birthday also. Just think, only six more weeks of winter. Now I haven’t had much winter. I mean, come on, so far I have only had to wear a jacket and turn the heat on in the car only a couple of times. How much winter is that? But……I do miss looking at new fallen snow.

I have been so tired that I haven’t even kept up with my new favorite handwork website ravelry.com. They aren’t open to the public but you can sign up (like I did) for an invite and then you can look to your heart’s content. Ravelry a knit and crochet community. The hub-bub is that Ravelry is the Facebook of knitting and crocheting. It has designers and people like me. It has patterns and forums and yarns and so on and so forth. When you click on a person you can see if they are a designer or have a website or a blog or whatever. I like Ravelry for sure.
